Gallery E-1 – Beads And Quills
In this room you will find many different styles and types of Native American beadwork and quillwork. These pieces are part of the permanent collection of the DPM and features Lakota, Dakota and Ojibwa artwork. Note how the various tribes have different patterns, and use a wide range of colors. The labels give a history of how beadwork and quillwork developed and be sure to use the “Please Touch” table for a complete sensory experience. The two little boy’s jackets hanging in the window are both Dakota in design.
