Christmas Tree Lane 2011
Dacotah Prairie Museum Visitors Share Food in Unique Way
Major Marina Womack of the Salvation Army (left) and Sue Gates, director of the Dacotah Prairie Museum, are shown with some of the food collected by the museum during its 2011 Christmas Tree Lane exhibit, which included thirty two trees and wreaths decorated for the exhibit by area groups, organizations, and individuals. Museum visitors were encouraged to “vote” for their favorite tree/wreath by placing non-perishable food items under their choice. Voting continued through Wednesday, December 21 and the race was tight. The final tally showed that the 2011 People’s Choice favorite tree was created by the Land of Oz Storybook Sewing Ladies. The tree, with its witch theme, highlighted the new Wicked Witch ornament the ladies introduced this year to add to the existing collection of hand sewn Oz Character ornaments. Sale of these ornaments help with projects at Storybook Land.
Thanks to all those who created trees and wreaths for the exhibit as well as the “voters” who helped make the holidays a bit brighter for our less fortunate neighbors.
