Lamont Gallery

An ethnic exhibit on the cultural roots of Iceland, Finland, Denmark, Norway and Sweden. Opens October 8 and runs through January, 2020.

A fascinating look at the Scandinavian countries; their history, their customs and the people that came from that area to settle in Dakota Territory and the upper midwest. On display will be a typical Scandinavian immigrant home, traditional costumes, and prized possessions that made the long, oversees boat trip in cheerily decorated trunks. Learn how the Vikings dominated and later integrated into many Scandinavian communities and maybe ask the question, “is there a little bit of Viking in all of us?” Open in the Lamont Gallery, 2nd floor, Dacotah Prairie Museum, beginning Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Museum hours are:    Monday-Friday, 9-5 and Saturday-Sunday, 1-4.
